Ratna TN

I am Ratna TN, born in a small village Anappanahalli which has only 200 families in the city of Albur, of the Kalpataru district Tipturu.

Along with culture, I was taught about the difficulties of life from my mother Padma, and along with a good education Iearnt about the society from my father TN Nagaraj, who was the village postmaster s well as a good consultant.

I finished my primary education from my village and went on to Nonavinakere for my secondary education and completed my  college in Tiptur.

In 1984 I came to Bangalore and joined the Canara bank sponsored KPJ Prabhu Artisan centre, under the supervision of the famous sculptor Late. Devarakonda Vadiraj and under the guidance of B. Chamacharya I learnt wood carving for 3 years.

“In the year 1989, I got married to Suralu Venkataramana Bhat, and this helped me to pursue my career in the same field.”

It was a new field for both of us, we had a lot of struggles, hurdles coming our way, but we kept aside all that and started our own firm ‘KADAMBA’

Learn and earn was our motto

For about 35 years, we learnt about the different styles of sculptures and started implementing the art in different forms such as gardens, hospitals, libraries, schools etc.

Our sculptures have been installed and won accolades in different states, and in international grounds as well.

We take pride in introducing Hoysala style sculpture to America for the first time (Milwaukee, Connecticut , Las Vegas Hindu temple)

A 5ft tall tega beete shrigandha mantapa has been installed in the library of London

10 ft dhyana Buddha has been installed in Lebanon

After 750 years, including all the art forms of Hoysala style, we take the pride of building a ekakoota Hoysala temple in the year 2007

This has been the first milestone in our success story

Looking at my expertise state shilpakala academy has awarded 2018 state award.
